Katrell J. Brower, 45, of Haledon, New Jersey, passed away on September 30, 2025.Born and raised in the Foster Projects, Katrell’s life was a story of strength, determination, and genuine heart. He graduated from Wadleigh High School in New York City, where he developed the drive and work ethic that would carry him throughout his life. After high school, he began working at Flying Foods at JFK Airport, then went on to Enterprise Rent-A-Car before finding his true calling with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), where he proudly served as a bus operator for 20 years.A big TV lover, Katrell could often be found watching his favorite shows — especially The Honeymooners. He loved it so much that he was inspired by the character Ralph Kramden to become a bus driver himself — and he did it with pride. Those who knew him best would say he brought that same mix of humor, honesty, and no-nonsense attitude to life every single day.Katrell was known for being real — straightforward, funny, and unfiltered. He said what he meant and meant what he said, and somehow managed to make people laugh even while keeping them in line. He had a presence that filled any room and a heart that left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him.Outside of work, Katrell loved riding motorcycles, Banshees, and dirt bikes, and he had a deep passion for hobby cars — always fixing, upgrading, and taking pride in every project. He also had a special love for dogs, especially pit bulls, whose loyalty and strength mirrored his own.Although Katrell left this earth too soon, he truly lived life to the fullest — spending time with family, friends, and doing what he loved most. His laughter, energy, and honesty will never be forgotten.He was the beloved son of the late Glenda J. Brower and Robert Powell, and stepson of William Battle, whose love and guidance helped shape his life. He was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Estelle P. Brower and Franklin R. Brower, whose wisdom and love helped lay the foundation for his strength and character.Katrell leaves behind his cherished children, Kyrah Leigh Brower, and Katrell Franklin Brower, who were his pride and joy. “He also leaves behind the love of his life, Denise Mendez, or as he lovingly referred to her as Denny and his stepdaughter, Kaylee Gomez, who brought him great happiness and love.Katrell is also survived by his devoted brother, Kimball Trumaine Brower, and his sister, Keoni Charmaine Brower-Wigfall ( Thomas Wigfall Buster)his nephews Xavier Brower and Zaeaire Brower; and his favorite niece, Kaylin Wigfall. He will also be lovingly remembered by his god-sisters, Leslie Etheridge and Tyanda Edwards, and his cousins Katrina, Dion, and Ernest Brower, along with a host of extended family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.Katrell will be remembered for his vibrant personality, humor, honesty, and deep love for his family and friends. His legacy of strength, laughter, and authenticity will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.“Although you are no longer with us, your love, laughter, and spirit will forever remain in our hearts.”
