**In Loving Memory of Joyce Michelle Copeland**

Joyce Michelle Copeland, a beacon of warmth and joy, was born on February 1, 1967, in Yonkers, New York, to Florteen Copeland and Robert Black. On June 4, 2025, Joyce transitioned from this earthly realm to embark on her eternal journey, leaving behind a legacy of love and connection.

Joyce was a proud graduate of the Mount Vernon School System, where she honed her delightful personality and captivating spirit. Her professional path began at the Henry Street Settlement Family and Children Shelter, where she worked as a front desk receptionist, always welcoming others with a smile. Throughout her life, Joyce pursued knowledge and personal growth, earning a Recovery Coach Certificate that allowed her to uplift others as a Recovery Coach Counselor at Green Hope Services for Women. Additionally, her passion for beauty led her to study cosmetology, where she expressed her creativity through hairstyling.

A true people person, Joyce possessed an infectious joy and an innate talent for bringing individuals together—her matchmaking skills were renowned among friends and family. Her wisdom, shared with unapologetic flair, left a lasting impression on all who were fortunate to know her. With an impeccable fashion sense and a fondness for shopping, Joyce had a distinctive style that radiated confidence. She found solace in the written word, particularly in the comforting verses of Psalms 23 and Psalms 121.

In the face of illness, Joyce demonstrated remarkable strength and resilience, battling health challenges with unwavering courage following her lung transplant. She was preceded in death by her beloved wife, Sherry, with whom she shared 33 beautiful years, and Sherry’s children—Petey, Billy, and Henry—as well as four cherished grandchildren—Chaim, Nassir, Billie, and Mekhi.

Joyce leaves behind a loving family who will forever treasure her memory, including her two devoted sisters, Connie and Arnette, and six brothers—Thomas, Henry Gillard, Robert Black Jr., Robert, Danny, and Ray Copeland. She also leaves an array of nieces, nephews, and friends whose lives were enriched by her presence.
