**Obituary for Jobina Renee Purvis**
Jobina Renee Purvis, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, was born on July 27, 1975, in New York City to Larry Thomas Purvis and the late Rosa Mae Braziel. A true miracle from the start, she arrived in this world weighing just two pounds, defying all odds she faced with unwavering spirit and resilience. Her life became a beautiful testimony to faith, strength, and the divine plan that God had for her.
On the serene morning of May 28, 2025, Jobina was lovingly called home by the Lord, ushered into eternal rest and the peace of His heavenly embrace.
Raised in a nurturing environment, Jobina's early years were spent in Far Rockaway, New York, before her family moved to the South Bronx, where she would form the foundation of her remarkable life. With the loving guidance of her mother, her late grandmother Annie Mae Walker, and her grandfather Otiz Braziel, she developed an unshakable sense of faith, family, and perseverance.
Jobina’s journey of faith began at a young age, being baptized at Greater Mount Hermon Baptist Church, where her love for the Lord and her church community flourished. She radiated joy as a soprano in the Youth Choir and dedicated her time as a member of the Youth Usher Board. Following in her mother’s footsteps, Jobina embraced the ministry of service by taking on the important role of Church Clerk at Greater Mount Hermon. Additionally, she founded the church's first Culinary Ministry, transforming the kitchen into a cherished space for fellowship and love through her wonderful gift of cooking.
Her commitment to service continued in her professional life. Jobina received her education from Walton High School and found her passion within the healthcare sector. Beginning her career at Calvary Hospital, she compassionately cared for terminally ill patients. Later, she earned her Home Health Aide Certification and devoted 19 years of her life to serving clients at Partners in Care, leaving a lasting impact on all she touched.
On May 29, 2010, Jobina married the love of her life, Joseph Rowland. Blending their families together, she embraced this new chapter with an open heart, creating a home filled with love for her bonus children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Jobina is preceded in death by her beloved mother, Rosa Mae Braziel; her grandmother, Annie Mae Walker; her grandfather, Otiz Braziel; and her older sibling, Meredith Purvis. She leaves behind her loving husband Joseph Rowland; her cherished children Oantranik Mann and Dashawn (Caiden and Amir); her father Larry Purvis; siblings Samara Purvis, Andrea Purvis-Colon (Walter), Eric Purvis Sr., Lawrence Purvis, and Jomuriel Allen; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, church family, the Prospect Avenue community, and former clients who will forever hold her memory dear.
Jobina’s life was a glorious testament to faith, service, and community. With hands, heart, and voice she sought to create meaningful impacts in the lives of those around her. Her quiet strength and loving spirit will be deeply missed but will remain eternally remembered in the hearts of those fortunate enough to know her.
