Life Sketch: In Loving Memory of Delphina Delory Pullar-Harvey
November 11, 1940 – August 10, 2025
Today, we celebrate the beautiful life and legacy of Delphina Delory Pullar-Harvey — a devoted mother, a
faithful servant of God, and a woman whose warmth, strength, and kindness touched everyone she met. She
peacefully transitioned from this life on August 10, 2025, at her home in Elmont, New York.
Delphina was born on November 11, 1940, in the quiet town of Alexandria, St. Ann, Jamaica. She was the sixth
of eight children born to Clarence and Irene Pullar. From the beginning, she stood out — joyful, bright, and
determined. She was known for her happy spirit and was a top student at Charlton School, where her academic
excellence made her family proud.
Her passion for service led her to Alexandria Nursing School, where she earned her Registered Nurse credentials,
along with certifications in Midwifery and Public Health, later she went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in
Nursing (BSN) from St. Joseph’s College. She went on to serve at Hinsdale Sanitarium and Hospital, Mary
Immaculate Hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital, and Riker’s Island, where her dedication and compassionate care left
a lasting impact on both colleagues and patients.
Delphina was also a devoted wife. She shared 35 years of marriage with her husband, Ivan Harvey. Throughout
their time together, she remained steadfast in her commitment to her home and values — one shaped by strength,
faith, and unwavering dedication.
Her spiritual journey began at age 13, when she was baptized into the Seventh-day Adventist Church alongside
her mother and siblings. A week later, her father and younger siblings joined them. From then on, she remained a
faithful and devoted member. She served faithfully in several ministries — as a Deaconess, Sabbath School
Teacher, and a faithful voice on the Prayer Line. Inspired by Matthew 25:40, she was never without a smile —
welcomed others into her home, always carrying literature to uplift and inspire. A woman of many talents, she
loved singing and dreamed of forming a music group, played the harmonica, enjoyed gardening, cherished quality
time with siblings, and loved traveling with family — creating memories rooted in laughter, love and faith.
Her favorite scriptures, Isaiah 61:10 and Isaiah 40:28–31, reflected her joyful spirit and unwavering faith.
Delphina leaves behind three beloved children: her son, Ray Harvey; and two daughters, Ivana Harvey and
Delicia Tater, along with her son-in-law, Lem Tater. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Zion, Angel,
Arielle, Azariah, Caylah, and Caleb.
She dearly loved her siblings — Dorrell, Derven, Eulin, Delsadie, Daphne, Lucille, Leon, and Meg — each one a
light in her life.
She now rests in peace, like her husband, Ivan Harvey; her parents, Clarence and Irene Pullar; her grandson,
Judah Tater; and siblings, Inez, Aubrey, and Josephine.
Today, as we remember her, we don’t just mourn — we celebrate. We celebrate a life lived with purpose. A
woman who gave generously, believed boldly, and loved fiercely. A woman who always had an encouraging
word to offer. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the family she nurtured, and the faith she carried until
her very last breath.
Delphina Delory Pullar-Harvey — faithful servant, loving mother, radiant soul — well done.
